Hello from Zambia,
Sorry for the delay in writing -- this is now Day 6 as I arrived on the farm last Friday after leaving Toronto Pearson Airport at 8:00p.m. on Tuesday night!
Long trek but worth the trip as it's just as beautiful as I last left it -- in May 2005.
I sit on the veranda writing my blog as I look out at the africa plains, watching the larger than life sun set, with an english tea in my hand. Yes, I'm still the multi-tasker, no matter where I am in the world.
The family has opened their home and their hearts, just as I knew they would. Derry and Mike are in charge while Tony & Jo are back at home in England. Dave, Farm Manager (Derry's son) is here with his girlfriend Ashley plus UK Builder, Matt so it's nice to have new/old friends to hang with.
Most of the farm staff have turned over so I'm sad to see some of my friends have gone -- Wizzy The Cook, Eric The Guard, Ellios The Driver, Albert The Handyman and Silver too! Betty, my maid is still here as well as Lawrence The Treasurer.
Good news is I'll begin new relationships which is what africa is all about! I jumped right into my new job and will write more later on the Sobia project and all it has to offer. I will make it into Ndola to Isubilo on Saturday if all transport works successfully. I can't wait to visit Orphan Street again -- Hannah wish you were here!!
OK, sun has set, must run. I'll write soon. love to hear from you!
Love, Tracey xox

Girlfriend how are you? Those are some amazing photos I truly admire the work you are doing there how exciting that takes so much courage & conviction to sell off everything & hit the road like that. Good for you I really admire that about you my friend.
The place your staying at looks absolutely fantastic. Will you be at this location for the entire year you are there or will you be travelling throughout Africa doing your volunteer work? The kids are sooooooo cute!!!
Can't wait to hear more about your adventure. Take good care of yourself.
Cheers,
Kate

Hi Tracey,
You've arrived - how exciting!! A long commute but definitely well worth it. You have a lot of work ahead of you over the next several months and I know you can't wait.
You're an inspiration, Tracey. We look forward to hearing of your adventures while you're away.
Stay well and take care,
Laura, Steve, Emily and Claire
P.S. I see Claire has already sent you a message!!
Hi Tracey,
I'm glad to hear you made it - sounds like a long trip. I read your blog - way to go lady!
We are all good here - trying to get back into the swing of things has been hard - but fun as well.
It certainly was hard to say goodbye at Kath's - knowing that we won't see everyone for a year is tough eh!
Take care Tracey,
Love always,
Gwen and the boys.
