Peace within

Lay your head upon the seashore
Lay your head upon the sand
Listen for the wave within you
Listen now and understand

Know the mercy of the water
Know the safety of the deep
Find the comfort we’re all born with
Hear the voice that gives you peace

Tracey's Update - 6 weeks remaining

Hello everyone!
A big thanks to all of you who have been reading my blog and sending emails my way. I appreciate your support and words of kindness. It certainly has made my 9 month stay easier, you're the best!

I must take a moment to thank those who sponsored me through Project HOPE in Canada. Your donations have made a difference and I'm at this end to see to it! I could not have stayed here as long, if it wasn't for you. Cash is still hard to come by since I haven't worked a corporate job in over a year so bless you for blessing me!

Well I have less than 6 weeks remaining and quite excited about plans to launch the new OVC Centre at Isubilo. I've been living in town with Kristi (from St. Catherines) and Julia (from UK) housesitting John & Priya's, so having great fun with the girls!

My relationships with the kids / our Zambian staff has been so rewarding. I've learned some of their bemba language and bonded well with many different age groups.
Their loyalty to friendship and family is so unremarkable. Some may be poverty stricken but they can certainly teach us a lesson or two...

As I sit and watch the sunset, I reflect on my days in Africa and realize how much I have grown. Doesn't matter how old you are, life is always full of new experiences to live by!

See Him as He sees me...

Stir in me the songs that you are singing,
Fill my gaze with things as yet unseen.
Give me faith to move in works of power,
Making me more like Jesus.
Then one day, I’ll see him as he sees me.
Face to face, the lover and the loved.
No more fears, the longing will be over,
There with my precious Jesus.

Invest in a child

The question is not whether we can afford to invest in every child;

it is whether we can afford not to.

Northwest Village of Sachibondu

I travelled up to the northwest territories this past week --about 1/2 an hour from the Congo border to visit a magical place called Sachibondu. The couple that I stay with started their ministry work in this small village over 10 years ago and moved to Lifespring Farm in Ndola, in 2002.

The road trip took 9 hours and I traveled with Nurse Sue (who lives at the farm) along with Eira Patching (nee Suckling) whose is a fourth generation Zambian (musungu/white) and whose father truly built up this lovely place to what it is today.
The whole area is easy to get around by foot with a bible school, church, trades school/shops, and a very busy clinic. Ruth Wallace is the nurse who runs the clinic and basically works 6:00a.m. - 6:00p.m. every day. People arrive from as far as the congo and have walked over 4 days to see her. The day that I helped at the clinic, in 1 hour between 3-4p.m. there were 8 admissions - 2 malaria patients, 1 TB, and a man diagnosed with leprocy. I helped weigh a small girl named Rosa, who being mal-nourished ballooned out with water retention & skin sores from kidney failure (see photo below).
It's a miracle that Ruth gets through every day along with approx. 12 staff members to run the clinic, lab, 4 hospital wards and many other duties.

Bless all those who work and live in Sachibondu. I pray good things happen for you & your village!
