Dearest Tracey, I was just looking at your blog again. It’s absolutely beautiful and I hope you never get rid of it. It’s a great picture journal of your time in Zambia for you to keep. Thanks for being so bold with your quotes and statements, and advocating for the children and women so passionately. I’m sure many people have been touched and challenged through reading it. I can’t believe you’ve been there 6 months! In some ways it seems like you’ve been gone forever, but in other ways, it feels like you just left! Does it feel that way for you too?How are the dear children doing? Is the new OVC centre in use now? I can’t wait to see Mehetabel and Nikolas and Presley and Geri and Emelda and Benson and all these beautiful kids again! What about SOBIA? Is it going well? I’d love to help out there for a couple of days while we’re over. Perhaps even do a workshop with some of the kids? Wali Chindama sana!! I was so happy to speak to you last week. I hope you had a great birthday and are enjoying every minute of your new life.
I had to write today since I watched Oprah last night and she had Charlize Theron on. She was talking about her work in South Africa and boy did it ever sound like what you are doing, working with orphaned kids. She made me cry it was like I was watching you hugging the kids and she also spoke about their spirit and the smiles.
It was you on TV she even had her pony tail like you. She told them if she could achieve they could too, since she was a farm girl.
Then I switch channels and CBS is doing a special on volunteers at the Olympics. Oh my gosh it was Tracey night on TV.
You are really our hero and I am so proud to know you. Well done Tracey!
Update: Movie Tuesdays are back $4.00 I miss our movie nights!
I'm here in Zambia out of a deep passion and a sense of calling. My work in Africa is completely voluntary. If you want to make a tangible contribution to my role here, you can make a donation through Project Hope (tax receipts issued). My sponsorship letter has more details.
